Ashraf Haque

I am a PhD candidate in public administration at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University. I expect to defend in late 2026.

I study public and nonprofit management. My work asks when information disclosure produces real accountability, how emerging technologies such as AI reshape administrative decision-making, and when behaviorally informed institutional design changes what citizens and officials actually do. My work is quantitative. I use field and survey experiments, quasi-experimental and observational designs, and machine learning and large language models as research tools. Before graduate school, I worked at the intersection of research and policy in Bangladesh as country director for Innovations for Poverty Action and GiveDirectly.

My research appears in Public Administration Review, Science, JAMA Network Open, and the Journal of Behavioral Public Administration. My PAR article received the H. Woods Bowman Award from ARNOVA in 2025.
